  • Track Truncated - Garmin 60CSx
  • --- I have recorded quite a bit of tracks on my Garmin. (16,000 trackpoints) I uploaded them to MapSource to edit the tracks. From there I renamed them, broke them apart as necessary, and joined several together as well. My longest track is 1980 trackpoints, the rest are all smaller. When I try and send my track data back to my GPS, it gives me a message saying "Track Truncated" on several of the tracks. Since I am downloaded 31 tracks, I am not sure exactly which tracks are being truncated. I do know that one of the tracks that is truncated is fairly short, less than 100 trackpoints. Any ideas what would cause a track to be truncated? Is it due to the track name, number of trackpoints, overlay, etc.

--- Most likely a naming issue. If you rename them to Active Log 1, Active Log 2, etc., do they get truncated?

--- The Garmin 60CSx, and most Garmins, will only load the first 500 points of a Tracklog from a PC to the GPSr if it has a name like "E108 Trail". It is then saved as 1 of the 20 allowed Saved Tracks. If you run it through Mapsource and filter it down to 500 points (Track Properties / Filter / 500 Max) it will load to the GPSr without truncating. If it has more than 500 points and you name it Active Log it will be added to the Active Tracklog and is then subject to the 10,000 points limit. If you have several tracklogs large tracklogs named Active Log01, Active Log02, Active Log03, etc they will all be loaded to the Active Tracklog as above.
